Theatre by the Lake sits on the shores of Derwentwater in Keswick's heart, establishing itself as Cumbria's leading producing theatre. Originally a touring company founded in 1975, it now operates two stages presenting nationally acclaimed theatre, music and dance, including drama, opera and comedy.
The venue hosts its resident company alongside visiting performance companies, with annual highlights such as Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol in December and special film screenings. Fully wheelchair accessible with enhanced hearing and induction loop systems in both auditoria, the theatre welcomes groups of ten or more with available discounts and optional group meals.
