Ashness Farm is a 16th-century working fell farm belonging to the National Trust, set on 750 acres extending from meadows at Derwentwater's edge to High Seat fell. The Grade 1 listed farmhouse retains many original features and offers five double or twin en suite rooms, three with baths, each overlooking Derwentwater.
Two rooms, Catbells and Armboth, were recently converted from the attached barn. Breakfast features hearty traditional English farmhouse fare, including Cumberland sausage from rare breed pigs, rare breed poultry, and free-range eggs.
The estate farms Herdwick sheep, Belted Galloway cattle, and rare breeds. Located near Borrowdale valley's southern end, the farm welcomes children and provides private parking and WiFi.
