A day made of several things

High ropes and zip wires, segways, archery, orienteering, geocaching, horse riding and adventure play — pick and mix, or hand the day to somebody who will.

Pick and mix

Pick and mix to have an adventurous day filled with different activities. Choose from these and more besides — paintballing, bushcraft, human bowling, go-karts, an assault course, quad bikes, clay pigeon shooting, off-road vehicles.

There are activities suitable for team building events, school and youth groups, families and couples.

What you can do

  • High ropes and zip wires — a treetop adventure and a bird’s eye view over the countryside, with tarzan swings, rope ladders and a variety of obstacles and crossings.
  • Forest segway — cruise and explore the forest floor on an all-terrain segway, for an hour of something completely different.
  • Archery — have a go at the ancient skill of archery, another great activity for all the family.
  • Horse riding — short rides or a full day’s pony trekking in the Lakeland countryside.
  • Orienteering — an outdoor adventure sport that involves walking or running while navigating a course with a detailed map and sometimes a compass.
  • Geocaching — outdoor treasure hunting with a GPS device. Navigate to a set of coordinates and then find the container hidden at that spot.

Adventure play for younger children

Younger children will love adventure play — zip wire, archery, climbing, slides, a maze, low ropes and orienteering. There is also hard play centred on a castle, complete with a ball pool, tunnels and ramparts, a rope bridge and even a smoke-breathing dragon.

The infinity bridge

Dare you cross the infinity bridge? You will be 2,000 feet above the valley floor, with breathtaking views.

Navigation

It is a great adventure to be out on the Lake District mountains, but knowing how to use a map and compass is essential — for your own safety. Get on a course and hone your skills. Safety on the fells covers what else to take with you.
