Kayakers in bright boats paddling among moored sailing dinghies

If you can do it outdoors

Walking, climbing, kayaking, running, cycling, via ferrata and zip wires — and lakes and rivers for sailing, canoeing, paddle boarding and wild swimming.

Adventure, whatever that means to you

Adventure is different to different people — doing something that is a little scary and exciting, or perhaps taking yourself out of your comfort zone. There is nowhere better to have that adventure than Keswick.

Keswick offers an extensive range of activities; if you can do it outdoors, you can do it in and around Keswick. We have an amazing landscape where you can enjoy walking, hiking, climbing, kayaking, running, paragliding, cycling, rock climbing, via ferrata and zip wire adventures. Our lakes and rivers are ideal for water sports such as sailing, canoeing, paddle boarding and wild swimming.

Whether you choose to try something new or push yourself to a different level, be sure to enjoy yourself on your adventure, and enjoy the breathtaking scenery and that feeling of being outdoors.

Before you go up

The weather in the Lake District can change rapidly. Whether you are climbing a mountain or tackling one of the lower fells it is essential that you check the forecast before you set off, and keep an eye on the weather while you are out.

Wear good quality hiking boots and several thin layers of clothing. Always tell someone where you are going. Plan your route before you set off, giving yourself plenty of time to get back before dark. Be aware that you cannot always get a mobile phone signal out on the hills.
